School of Engineering is interested in running experiments with the iLab system. Speaking to Ray White from the SoE, he wants to create labview programs and have it intergrated with the iLabs at UQ. One of the experiments is controlling a small wind tunnel using labview and NI equipement. He stated an interest in getting a campus wide license of labview for teaching and research. Currently SoE has funds (30k setup + 14k pa maint fee) to purchase department license for his school. For another $10k in the setup the license can go campus wide. ITEE has teaching only license with maint fee of $1.8k pa. Ray is also keen on getting a labview users group up and going with NI periodically visiting and giving free training (catered by NI).
With hiring new staff to do some of the implementation, Mark you should have a chat with SoE.

Local announcements on iLabs at UQ
I'll post periodically here to keep the UQ iLab group informed of what we are up to. It may be that another forum could be useful, but let's go with this for the moment.
Cheers
